Hollowell Steam and Heavy Horse Show was created back in 1986 by Allen Eaton in response to a request for a donation from the Warden of Hollowell Chuch for repairs to the roof. Over the years it grew from the first rally which had 233 exhibits (and raised £8090) and was on an 11 acre site including car park to almost 100 acres of family entertainment. At the end of 2018 Allen and Jane retired from organising the show after a very successful 32 years.
In 2019 Robin and Di Lewis took over the organising of the show, working alongside the dedicated group of unpaid volunteers on the committee and with help from a lot of local people.
In 2020 and 2021 the show was cancelled for only its second and third times in its history due to the worldwide Covid pandemic (the first cancellation being 2001 when foot and mouth was around).
In 2022 Robin and Di Lewis stood down from the running of the show at the end of February. In a bid to save the field from being sold Allen and Jane put on a one off show, Hollowell Steam and Vintage Rally.
2023 brings us a new Chairman, Mr Neil Byrd. Neil and his wife Martine have both been volunteering with us for over 10 years and after much deliberations decided to take on the running of the show from 2023 onwards. They have shadowed Allen and Jane during the 2022 build-up and are confident that they can carry Hollowell Steam and Heavy Horse Show forward with the help and support of the committee and of the rally volunteers.
